Big problem with Ipod-Orange light and green light showing same time

For about a week, my ipod won't work. When I press play, it shows the green light, then orange appears under it, then green, then orange, and it won't play any songs. I read for the help book and the only thing close to what was happening was that I disabled the buttons, but I did what it said to and the ipod still won't work. (What's worse is that I can't find the warrunty so if I can't get it working i'll have to buy a new one) I need help!

I had the same problem after updating to iTunes 6 and firmware 1.1.2.I bought my IPS 7 days ago and got it exchanged for a new one at the store. A quick search showed a lot of IPS owners having the same issue, including lots of posts in the Apple Discussion boards, but as for now, Apple didnt acknowledged or mentioned anything about this problem.
I suppose thats related to this 'lastest and greatest' update, probably the firmware... Im not sure...
On another forum I saw people mentioning this issue occurs only in Windows, so I didnt update my unit, I left the 1.1.1 firmware version and its working fine.
If wasnt for the warranty, I would be a 'happy' white-useless-brick owner now. I really hope Apple do something to correct this fiasco...

The problem: Flashing green and yellow lights, iPod shuffle no longer recognized. I just had this happen to 2 different ipod shuffles on 2 differnt mac computers. both shuffles were working fine prior to being conntected after an upgrade to latest version of itunes. the shuffles are not showing up in the finder, and are not recognized by itunes or the ipod updater. all attempts to restore the ipods have failed. I have five Macintosh computers, all well maintained with the latest versions of all software. Startup Disks are all verified with no problems, permissions too. This is a recent problem that must be related to the most recent itunes upgrade or the 10.4.3 upgrade. My 2 shuffles worked fine until this week. I have tried to restore the software but the iPod updater does not recognize the iPod shuffle. From reading the apple discussion groups, I am not the only shuffle owner with this problem.Any one else having this problem should send an e-mail to Apple. Maybe if enough of us scream they will post a solution.

i have the same orange/green blinking light whenever i turn my shuffle on and press play. The strange thing is it just happened as i was walking down the street with it one day. My computer recognises it, except whenever i plug it into my usb port, it flashes orange. the Apple Ipod Shuffle logo appears in My Computer, although Itunes dosent recognise it. When i double click the ipod disk in my computer it just displays an error message.
Basically, i've only had the thing for about 5 months and already its busted, my computer has no major viruses and i've never physically damaged it. I have no idea where this has come from and I've tried everything.
If anyone has this problem or know how to deal with it, any help will be greatly appreciated. my email address is jammy_life@yahoo.co.uk incase anyone is feeling extra generous. but just to hear im not the only one with this problem would be something.

same exact things goin on with my shuffle ever since i downloaded the software upgrade... its starting to make me really mad also because its been out for about a week and half and i just put new songs on it when it happened....chewe2119 at 2007-11-15 13:00:27 >

There are 60 or so posts on the apple forum about this issue.My 1Gb shuffle died yesterday with the flashing light error.
I spent a frustrating hour on the phone and in the service center in town. Neither knew anything about the problem.
Given that it has affected thousands of users it is amazing that apple have not at least alerted their support staff to the problem so that they can act promptly without all the troubleshooting crap.
The only solution is to return the unit for replacement.

Another one bit the dust. It just started having this problem a couple days ago. This morning I tried to restore and it loaded the new firmware, but still no fix. Right now it's a brick -- a very teeny tiny brick...Update, I just found that if I put music on there, it will find and play the music and just ignore my podcasts and audible books. They show up in iTunes on the device, but it just skips over them and plays only music. If I take the music off, I get the blinking lights. ?
New update! I chatted with an Apple agent on the web and we got my shuffle working. It appears that at sometime I must have changed the switch from play in order to random. When I switchted to play in order it works again. Yea!
