Need to reload songs for sound check?

I just updated my shuffle to be able to use sound check. I checked the option and updated but do I need to reload all the songs for the option to work?
Thanks,
Randall

does sound check even work on the shuffle? i knew that for it to work on full size ipods you need to enable it in itunes AND on the iPod... and the shuffle doesn't have any way of enabling sound check... so what is up with that?

The shuffle supports Sound Check as of the most recent version of iPod Updater.

Decimus Maximus, first you need to turn on Sound Check in iTunes (Preferences > Playback > Sound Check [on]) as well as in the shuffle preferences. It will take iTunes a few minutes to analyze all the music in your library.

I'm not sure whether iTunes will automatically update the songs already on the shuffle, or whether you need to reload them again after all this is finished. Pick out a really loud song and a really quiet song to test whether the new feature is working or not. (I haven't tried it.)
