Thinking of getting my sister a shuffle.....

currently she has a Creative labs muvo n200 512mb. its alright, but its mad weird putting songs on it, because it only supports mp3, so its a pain in the butt.

should i get her a shuffle? it would probably be the 1gb, since she already has this one full. i have alot of experince with ipods, but never the shuffle. i assume they use itunes as well?

the muvo does have a small, screen, but do you think she'll miss the screen not being there on the shuffle?

going by the cnet reviews, the muvo is better, but i just thought i'd see what yall think. she needs something simple to put music on, and the muvo isnt really easy.

thanks for any advice or info!

i had a muvo and since i got the shuffle i would have to the the shuffle is far better. i had to muvo where the battery was in a separate compartment and i used it as a flash drive as well. i do that with the shuffle as well. i dunno bout your point of missing the screen. i certainly don't. but maybe thats becuase i kno all my music. even when i want a specific song, since i know that its in alpahbetical order, i just shuffle to the nearest letter artist ie if i wanted bob and i was at ziggy or whatever, i'd shuffle until it hit adam or bam etc then i wud normally go to it. so if she knows her music, then she probably won't miss the screen. the only thing is that the shuffle scratches easier ! :> hope this helps ;)

You'll have to make the call on the screen issue. But the shuffle is a fine little device, quite rugged and dependable, with the best sound quality of any iPod (truly, according to a number of independent tests). It works seamlessly with iTunes, like other iPods -- and perhaps better than the Nano, until debugging issues are resolved -- and even has a couple of unique shuffle-only refinements. For instance, you have the option of having all your tracks automatically converted to 128 kbps AAC format when they are loaded to the shuffle, so as to maximize the number of songs on there. (I don't use this feature, but it's there.)
