Okay... here are a couple of solutions I have incorporated to protect my Nano until a suitable skin is released. I have completely covered the front and back with Fellows Universal Screen Protector sheets carefully cut to size and applied. Took me a few tries to get it right. Controls work fine even when covered completely by the sheet.

Also, after days of searching for a makeshift case I found a really tiny and cool black Case Logic wallet designed to hold flash memory cards:
Model DMC2. It holds 6 flash cards or one Nano! It is the perfect size! I zip it 3/4 the way around and run my headphone cord out the bottom.
