iPod Nano noise when you control volume

Hello, I am Korean iPod nano user.

I had a problem with my nano, and replaced with new one.

But It had the same problem.

The problem is "noise when you control the clickwheel to control volume"

So I asked other Korean nano users at 3 different sites.

And all the nano users answered they have the same problem.

I'll explain about the noise.

1. Kind of noise
A noise when you use the clickwheel to "control volume"
(There's no noise at when you use it to play games, or to select song, or etc)
Some kinda buzzzzz... thing.

2. Way to check the noise
(1) You need to play a song
(2) Or pause the playing song
(3) Then control volume
(4) The clicker option is "Off" mode

3. Etc. features
(1) The volume goes louder, the noise goes louder
So the easiest way to check the noise is
Pause the song, and then control the volume near 70%~100%
(2) It can mainly be found on only one side of the speaker. Left, or right.
(3) It can be found easier when you control the volume rapidly
Ex) Volume 70% to 100% at once
(4) When you finish controlling volume, the noise disappears.
So it can be found only when you're controlling volume

Please check your nanos, and when if you find yours same.

Report it to Apple using any way. Visit nearest Apple service center,
Report it to Apple Service Center via phone, via email.. whatever.
Thanks for reading this.

My English is pretty poor, hope you can understand what I want to say properly.

Have a nice day :)

# 1 Re: iPod Nano noise when you control volume
May I ask why you would care if there is slight "noise" when adjusting the volume? How does this effect the performance of the unit? I have heard exactly what you're talking about on numerous units(not just Ipods). Some units make slight "clicking" sounds when adjusting the volume as the volume is in "steps". I feel this is normal and nothing to worry about. I am currently enjoying my Ipod instead of looking for problems that don't exist.

I have the same sound on my nano.

Yes, it is a defect for sure in the design although I'm sure the apple apologists here will disagree.
One of many defects I am discovering in the nano as I get more used to it...

Unfortunately there is not much competition for Apple so there is no incentive to make the product better.
