Ipod Nano stopped working

I was listening to my ipod this week and while I was searching threw the different artist my nano froze. As a result, I put the Nano aside for a few minutes and later tried to use it again. When I tried to use it again it started skipping threw my songs in such a fast pace that the album art was not given time to appear. After this happened I received the apple support pic.

My question is I have followed all the steps in the support and now the Nano screen is stuck in disk mode and tells me its ok to disconnect even though it is not plugged into the computer. What should I do next??

I wanted to try and fix it but it seems like I might have to take it to the support center in the apple store. Is there any tips anyone can give me??

Thanks

did you try to restore the iPod?

goto http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/ and grab the current firmware update for the nano. plug your nano into your computer and open the firmware updater. inside one of the menus should be a restore option.

quick warning though, restoring your nano will wipe out all your songs and data.

I downloaded the software earlier and have tried multiple times to restore it but my ipod does not let me. The program either tells me that another program is using the ipod (itunes is not open) or the my ipod has a service error.

The nano charges perfectly fine but it keeps warning me not to disconnect. When i go to my computer and eject the disk it tells me that it is ok to disconnect and stays on that screen forever.

Do a Reset instead of a Restore. Plug nano into PC or wall outlet when Resetting. Turn Hold ON then Off, press and hold Menu and Center for 6-10 seconds until Apple logo appears. This occurs a lot on my 4G and I'm able to recover by resetting. Doesn't happen with my nano.

I tried to do a reset but it does not allow me....Once I plug in my ipod it tells me not to disconnect, so I go to my computer and put eject disc and the screen says it is ok to disconnect for the remainder of the time. I even tried to reset the ipod when it said that it was ok to disconnect and it ends up going back to the screen the tells me not to disconnect it.

Additionally once i remove the ipod from the power source it gives me the same folder with exclamation mark and tells me to go to apple support

Well i finally fixed the problem and I have the ipod working again :)

There was a hidden program using the ipod and it would not let me restore the ipod. Once i did some searching i found the program and it allowed me to restore it.

Thanks for all the help

Would you be able to provide some more info on that? I'd be very curious to know what was doing that.

The ipod itself was messed up and needed restoring...the restoation program offered by apple that updates the software on the ipod would not allow me to restore it because a program called ipodservice.exe was running.

The thing is I have a windows based system so I pressed ctrl+alt+del and did not find any programs running that would hamper the ipod from restoring under the applications tab...so I want to the processes tab and found the ipodservice program and ended the program and the restoration procedure ran perfectly after that.

I hope this helps and hopefully you don't run into the same problem I have
