video upgrade

i have no clue if this is possible (probably not), but might it be possible to upgrade a photo ipod to a video one? This sounds stupid, but linux has proved the ability of the photos to play video, which means it might just be a firmware change. I remember flipping through the change you icons forums, and somebody found a way to trick the updater into thinking his ipod was of an earlier firmware version so he could reset it without reloading his music. Couldnt you make the updater for the video pods think that your photo is actually a video pod using a similar process? It might work if the hardware isnt too different. lemme know whatcha think, and if you know how to find that code for the firmware version. Of course, this wont work until apple releases a software update for the video ipods, but wth, might as well get cracking on figuring it out now =)
