Hi all, I am new here from Hong Kong :)
Just bought a Nano two weeks ago and found the sound is not right with the SONY earphone (Middle price range US$35).
Did some research on the internet and decided to get a pair of NEW Westone UM1 after compair with the information got from the net. (compair the data of Shure E3c, SuperFi, 6isolator only).
I like the UM1, but it was so strange that i could not try out the sound of the earphones before paying it. That means i bought it just base on some opinion i got from the forum and just paid for the specification i read on the package :(
Would that be the same in USA when getting a NOT CHEAP Headphone !!!
Anyway, i still havent got any chance to listen the Shure, SuperFi, 6isolator......
Did i make a good decision?
Any comment on Westone especially on New UM1?
Is Westone popular in USA and would it be the same grade as Shure, Superfi.......
I just wish i make a RIGHT move for the UM1

It's tough to find good headphones that you can try on. I was fortunate to fnd a Best Buy where they carried Shure E2c headphones, my first endeavor into the in-ear canalphones. I tried them, liked them, but found the bass lacking, so I got to return. I ended up purchasing a pair of black super.5fi Pro headphones but I had to over the Internet. Fortuantely, they are amazing headphones so I was happy to have taken the risk. Bigger stores like Target also carry Ultimate Ear headphones, as well. But for Westone, Etymotic research, or a FutureSonic, you're stuck with Internet.

Is the Westone UM1 not a good choice?
I found of the sound of UM1 is good but a little weak on the bass.
I used my Nano to play Hip-hop, pop music (in MP3 format) for testing the UM1. Did i do it right for testing? What kind of music and player is recommend for the testing?

finally got a chance to try out the shure e2c, e3c, e4c and e5c. They all look great and come with quality wiring and case.
i tried them all out and now feel a whole lot better with my UM1 :)
e2c is not compatble with UM1 in all aspect.
e3c has simular sound quality in respect of bass ,treble and vocal. However i think UM1 is a little better the e3c.
e4c and e5c are GREAT and much more expensive than UM1 not same level with UM1. so i would make a comparison :)
I would say UM1 is in between e3c and e4c
Compare with the wiring and accessories of UM1 to Shures' , Shure wins !!!
Shures' weight much HEAVIER than the UM1, UM1 has much lighter wiring and the case is not as good as SHURE's :)) )
anyway since UM1 is lot cheaper than the e3c and e4c and has similar performance. I will still go for UM1. And it is so LIGHT in weight -- great for outdoor user :)
