My friend was blasting music through my Apple In-ears for a few minutes....

Is this bad for the earphones? Do you think it damaged the earphones? If not, will blasting it full volume a lot kill the earphones eventually?

A friend of mine did that as well. The headphones started sounding like they were rattling afterwards

well i do that not too often but i do, do that. It starts rattling because the bass of the song is being brought to a higher volume. mine aren't messed up well yet and hopefully not.

A one time (even a few times actually) full blast won't damage the earphones unless they were hooked up to a multiwatt source - like a real amplifier. The ipods can't do damage to earphones in a single sitting since they can't get that much power in them. BUT... if you are cranking them up a lot... you can say "adieu" to them. So just don't do that :)
