Changing iPod Photo to Video...??
Does anyone know if there will be any possiblity at all that soem smart guys will find a way to write a program that will allow your Photo to be turned on in a Video.
Or is the screen of the Photo not suitable for this.
Of course I wouldn't do this myself :D , but I am just curious....

iPod linux for the 4G iPods is unsupported and can supposedly do serious damage to the iPod.
but the new 5G iPods have a video decoder chip built in. the 4G iPods do not, and do not ever expect Apple to release a firmware update that allows the 4G iPods to play videos, it would not make financial sense

not really, the most you would have to do is restore it if you screw up. the video on my photo works almost flawlessly (sometimes audio doesnt sync up with the video). but other than that, i love it...good for long trips.

Rubbish - your saying it wouldnt make financial sense to allow all those photo iPod users to play videos which they BUY from itunes?
Yeah - OK...
It will never happen though for 4G users because, if what your telling us is true, the 5G ipod video has a decoder chip in it whereas the 4G one dosent, so would therefore be unable to play the videos even if Apple would like them too.

It wouldn't. Because, I'm sure a lot of the people buying the 5G already have a photo iPod.. but are upgrading either for the extra space or video. They might not have upgraded if there was a video firmware upgrade.
Plus, as said before, it doesn't have a video decoder.. so the video would be very very poor. Plus, the screen is smaller.

I am saying it does not make finacncial sense.
Reason: Apple would never create a firmware update that would install video decoder software in the iPod color/photo, which would take away from the sales of the brand new 5G iPod.
Now do I need to explain it any easier for you!?!
