iPod 60gb photo on PC and Mac

I'm not sure where to look for this info. I have a iPod which is currently formatted with the iTunes on my PC. I am getting an iMac and want to use the ipod on both computers. Can I do this? If not, then what do I need to do to transfer my music to the Mac and use the mac as my main library.

i don't think that you could use both computers, i guess you're going to have to just get it all on CD's again, restore your ipod for mac, and then you could use it.

Just speculation here, but it may work with some limitations. I believe the iPod will seek out the default program you have set for it to use (ITunes, Anapod, XPlay or whatever), whether it's a PC and a Mac, or two or more PC's or Mac's. However, you have to be careful, as if you sync the iPod with the tunes from one computer, then, put the iPod on another computer, it will sync with what's on that computer, and change what was on it from the first computer. I know iTunes does this, not sure about the other apps. Be best to have your tunes backed up on a computer, and keep the two computer's iTunes library as much as a clone of each other as possible.

You should be able to copy folders from the iPod to the computer, just like from any other disk drive. Some folders may be hidden, so you'll need to turn on viewing hidden files, if it works that way on the Mac, and there are programs that let you copy stuff from your iPod to the computer, such as CopyPod, but not sure if that one will work on Mac, there must be others.

Yes, as a matter of fact, you can use your iPod on both PC and Mac, as I've done it myself a while back.

In order to use it in both PC and Mac, make sure it is formatted (by a Windows machine) in FAT(32) format. Macs can read FAT32 formatted iPods, although they can't read NTFS formatted iPods, or any other NTFS formatted hard drive. When you first plugged your iPod into your PC, I'm pretty sure iTunes, or whatever the utility was that came up when you plugged it in, auto-formats in FAT32. To check, go to Start > My Computer > Your iPod, and at the left panel will appear a box at the bottom left of the window and it will say File System: FAT32 or otherwise.

If you want to transfer your current music library, there is a free way to do it, using a handy program called PodUtil. PodUtil allows you to copy songs from your iPods to your computer for free, with one exception. Every 50 songs it copies to your computer, a message appears saying, "Please Register! Only $This Amount$!" but you can just click 'OKAY' or 'LATER' or whatever it is and it will continue copying. Pretty annoying for people with a large collection but it does the job.

Meh, hope that helps
