Purchased a 60GB Black iPod directly from Apple and it was defective. It kept resetting itself. After a day of this I called Apple and spoke to three tiers of techs who finally told me that they felt it was a hardware issue. They had me hard reset it (hold down menu and select button for ten seconds). Wipe it clean with iPod updater, checked date of my iPod updater, checked version of iTunes, wanted to know what computer I was using (17" Powerbook G4 thank you very much) running Tiger.

I was assured that they would send out a box and that I would get it on Monday, I would ship it back overnight so they would get it on tuesday and that they would not repair it, but would ship me out a new one overnight and I would get it on Wednesday. No iPod came today. I called 1-800-MY-APPLE and the automated system told me that my repair was complete. I checked the website and it simply stated that my unit was received. I called them back (on hold for 45 mins) and was finally told by the person at apple that my iPod is in their repair facility and that I shouldn't expect it back until 11/11. This is straight up BULLS@#T!!! Thanks for listening :D
