Cant mount iPod.

I finally received my 5G iPod today and it's not synching correctly. When I connect it to my computer it will display the "Do not disccnnect" message on the iPod as if it were ready to sync, but then about 15 seconds later it will go back to the iPod menu. Then it will continually repeat this cycle forever. I already tried reinstalling both iTunes and the iPod Updater. I also tried resetting the iPod. Now what should I do?

I am having the same problem, syncing my songs works fine. But right after that, iTunes will unmount it, and I will have to reconnect it. (Because of this, I cannot enable the iPod for Disc Use or enable it for Photo use.)

My computer is about 3 years old and it didn't have USB 2.0 on it. So I purchased one from newegg.com and installed it yesterday. Apparently, there were some conflicts between the components connected to the old USB 1.1 ports on my computer and the iPod being connected to the 2.0 ports. I just moved my keyboard and printer from the 1.1 ports to the 2.0 ports and now my iPod syncs fine. So far it's working fine.
