For those who received the ipods and bought it online with a credit card/debitca
this mainly pertains to those of you who used to buy it with debit/credit cards that can view transactions online as they happened
well if you dont want to answer this it is ok but i have a question
when you bought your ipod and u used a credit/debit card ie. bank of america and you can see transactions online, did apple charge your account for the full ammount before they shipped it or when they shipped or or after u received it? im just curious because apple has not yet charged my account for it and they've shipped it and its on its way here arriving either tomorrow or monday

Just because you haven't seen the charge on your account doesn't mean Apple hasn't charged it on their side.
It takes time for a charge to be posted to your account - sometimes a few hours, sometimes several days. It's not instantaneous.

Keep in mind that in most cases you cannot see authorizations on your online banking, only actual charges (the only exception I've seen to this thus far is the PayPal Debit Card, which shows all authorizations on your online PayPal statement as soon as they happen).
Normally, when you conduct an electronic transaction, the credit card is authorized as soon as the order is processed. This is done to make sure that the funds are available, and also serves to put a "hold" on these funds so that they can later be billed.
Following an authorization, a transaction actually has to be posted in order for the funds to be transferred from your credit card. This varies from card to card, but normally an authorization "sticks" for 10 days before the funds are released. During that time, those funds are "held" against your credit limit and you would not be able to spend them on anything else (in other words, if you only had $500 of available credit left, and you purchase a $500 item, any further transactions will be declined, as the $500 authorization is holding those funds).
The classic example where you will see this happen is with car rentals and hotels. They authorize the card as soon as you check in, to ensure that you will actually be able to pay for the rental/hotel room, however the funds aren't actually billed against that authorization until you actually check out or return the car.
I suspect what has happened in your case is that Apple would have authorized the funds from your card (which means they're being held and you won't be able to spend them on anything else), but the transaction hasn't been "billed" or "posted" as of yet. You'll probably see it show up online in a day or two.

I used my debit card and could see authorizations and pending transactions. My account was billed shortly after I purchased at the online store. I also see 4 other $1.00 authorizations on there. It's like they spammed the authorizations. Who knows.

Online stores and other similar services will normally submit a $1 authorization just to verify that the card number and related information is valid. This generally happens when you first submit the order.

Then once the payment goes through, the $1(s) is released back to your account. :)

I have a similar thing, I had ordered my Ipod, used my debit card, and the money was taken straight out of my account. I then changed my mind and cancelled the order, I rang Apple and they told me it would take 2-3 days for the money to be returned, So I said forget it uncancel the order whcih they did.
Ipod has now shipped, but the money came back into my account.

i believe they charge debit cards right away to make sure you have the amount available. It happened to me, i have BOA as well. I had to order it twice (first time the address was incorrect) so I cancelled my first order but it was showing 2 x 300.00. The day after it disappeared. I am sure that in a few days I will be charged again (since it has shipped).
