Can videos be played as regular songs?
I plan on getting the new ipod as soon as it hits the stores but until then my mind is left to wander.
My question is, if we buy a music video will we be able to listen to that song on lets say a shuffle? or will it only work as a video file?
thanks

only as a video file unless you record only the audio portion

i would like to know if the audio is as good quality in a video from the apple store as the audio in a 128kbs file .Since the video is low res. That's what I thought u were asking from the title.

$2 seems like an awful lot to pay for a low res music video

I downloaded a video from iTunes and it's in my Library with all my music-- so it may in fact shuffle with the music. No way of knowing for sure I guess until someone has the new ipod.

The audio of the music videos and TV shows are at 128 kpbs, same bit rate as the songs from iTunes.

But whatabout the presentation, didnt you see when Steve plugged in hi iPod and everything appeared on the screen..?
# 9 Re: Can videos be played as regular songs?
I haven't seen the presentation yet. To what are you referring? I was merely answering someone's question about the bit rate of the audio track, which I believe iLounge or some other site reported as 128 kpbs.

Ok, sorry, anyway. Steve plugs in his iPod with the tv-out cable and you could see the whole menu system on the big screen (TV)

Actually, that particular iPod was "hotwired" (his words). If you look at the cable coming out of it, it's thick and black. I believe this was a development/presentation iPod that had it's graphics chip diverted to output to the presentation screen. you can see that the display was displays in a kind of virtual iPod on the screen.
I would guess that you'd just get a full screen mirror as on the previous photo iPods, not a virtual iPod bezel/screen display.
I also suspect they did a little something to make the video clearer on that massive screen because, come on, do you think a 320x240 video would look that good on a projection the size of a movie screen? Doubtful.
I don't think video out is going to look that good, but I'll hold my judgement until I can play with it on my own personal TV.
