iPod Charger (HOW MANY AMPS)
I don't want another charger. The apple USB Charger seems to be 5v at 1A (amp). I've seen generic chargers on eBay ranging from .18A to .48A and I've got a BlackBerry Charger that I really like (USB Charger) that is .5A(500mA).
Also found this about USB ports:
The Power Mac G5 computer provides 5 V power for the USB ports and up to 500 mA on each port.
So it seem USB ports supply 500mA (or .5A) any benefits to a 1A (amp) charger, specially since it seen the cable is ment for .5A.
Thanks

Lower amperage will work, just that it will take longer to charge that is all.

I've seen nice small iPod travel chargers for sale for as little as 8 bucks. The size is main attraction to me, and the price is nice too. But what's the compromise? Is there a compromise? Will they damage or charge real slow? Have any of you tested these 3rd party products.

I use my old PDA charger for my mini.
The label says it puts out 1 amp. The size is of a travel-size tube of sunscreen, lightweight, universal worldwide AC, got a UL label, and comes with an auto charger to boost. usd$12 bux shipped. Can't beat it!
eBay, search for "3200 3600 car wall charger"
