How are you going to protect your nano?

With no cases for the nano out yet and a expected ship date of 4-6 weeks for the nano tubes from the apple website, how are you guys going to protect your precious nanos from scratches? Right now, i'm using one of those soft eyeglass cleaning microfiber cloths, but am looking for a more portable way to carry around my ipod without scratching it.

Dunno. For a device built upon the philosophy of sexiness, I'm going to want a case as form-fitting as possible. If only I could convince myself that 1) scratches aren't a big deal, and 2) I'm not going to snap it in half, then I'd be thrilled to go naked -- but that's unlikely to happen.

Until a satisfactory case arrives... who knows. Perhaps I'll just re-attach the "Don't Steal Music" wrapper. (The text can be removed with rubbing alcohol, if I recall correctly.)

P.S. GRIFFIN: 1) and 2) above would be perfectly solved with an IVAULT FOR IPOD NANO!!!

Oh! I just figured it out. I will use my Oakley eyeglass pouch to store my shuffle in my pocket. The scroll wheel still works through the bag and everything.

I wrapped my Black nano in Palm Pilot Screen Protectors to keep it scratch free until a super slick case comes out.

Works great even with one covering the wheel.

Well I started a thread about cases and I see it got moved to the Cases section under iPod Nano. It can be found here - http://forums.ilounge.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=115904

Right now I'm on the pre-sale list for the ezskin one because it has a belt clip, which is how I prefer to use my Shuffle at the gym. And they are saying it will ship the week of 9/26, which is sooner than 4-6 for the Nano tubes. It looks like it will be really easy for them to make it since all they have to do is mold a different size silicone case than the full sized iPod and Mini cases they already sell.

To protect it before I get that case, I thought about leaving the plastic wrap on it and just cutting a hole for the head phones and dock connector. Or just slipping it into a sock when I'm not done. I think I have a baby sock from when I first got my Shuffle and wanted to protect it.

I have a Tiffany's jewerly pouch that fits the iPod Nano perfectly - so for now I'm using that. I also kept the screen protector on the iPod, since on my 30gb, the screen is scratched and is not as easy to read compared to a scratchless screen. I don't really care if the rest of the iPod gets scratched.

I'm waiting for someone to mutilate a remote with a DVD jog dial to use as a case/theft deterrant. Be cool to rig the jog dial to interract with the click wheel. Though people will look at you weird for carrying around a remote control with headphones coming out of it.

just a piece of cling-on clear plastic to protect the screen, nothing else. did the same with my previous ipods. scratches don't bother me :)

I have a hand made cutlass named "Grimm Resolve" for home defence. For travel, I have a double edged Benchmade balisong or a Rekat Sifu w/ 5" blade. I also have a Surefire E2 Defender for blinding and maiming a potential theif.
Oh, and I'm designing a very cute, corsette like, wrist sheath using silk brcoade and lace to protect my Nano from scratches

I was hoping for just a tight fitting clear wrap for my Nano, and i found it, on eBay. For about $10 USD:

Edit: Can't directly link ebay items anymore??

Anyway, here's the item #: 5807867636

you can just copy and paste the item # in the ebay search box

apart from using a ipod sock, i think naked is best. its a bit like having a BMW, and placing a ford shell on it because you dont want to damage the bmw shell.

I am a naked guy too (kids, don't look!) Why hide a sexy toy? If it looks kool, show it! As they say, if u got it, flaunt it! (not in Blooklyn).

Don't be no putting a plastic cover on your leather chair!

i mean the sock is ok, as you need to take it out to use it, its easy to remove. the isock is as far as i will go to protect it. why keep pda protectors on it, i feel things like that ruin the ipod, but then others feel if you dont have one it ruins it.

man, for $10, you could have made about 100 of those things (if not something better). after cleaning vinyl and getting off any dust/oils, it'll stick to itself, as well as the Nano.

(sorry about the blur, forgot to set it on macro)

(little flap to cover the little port thing)

i think i'm going to start selling these things for like $5 on ebay. pefectly clear if you take the time to get all the air bubbles out, and thick enough to not suffer from scratches.

Naked!!!

Isn't the whole point of it being small is to improve portability? And to me portability is ease and comfort in taking it with me. This thing will ride unobtrusively in my pant pocket or jacket pocket, so that's where it is going to be.

I am using my Coach mini skinny (very tiny small wallet for keys or cards). It was a great coincidence because I had bought a new LV "skinny wallet" and didn't know what to do with my old Coach one. It's super slim, super sleek, fits the earphones, and has a chain keyring to attach my keys!

Talk about multifunction. ^_^
