All of the reports I've seen which suggested that firewire couldn't be used for synch have been based upon Apple's tech specs. I held out hope that it might be an oversight (unrealistically, optimistic, I guess). For whatever reason, even though the dock connector is the same, the nano does NOT synch over firewire (it threw an error message when I tried this afternoon). For legacy Mac owners, this may make a difference. I guess I'll have to sully my G4 quicksilver with an aftermarket usb 2.0 card. Sigh.

I really wish this would have worked, but at least it still will charge over firewire (I think).
