iPod freezes..
Hello.
I'm having a slight problem with my iPod here.. It's a 20gb version, bought in the US.
The last weeks I've had it with me when jogging. It plays fine all the time, until I wanna change song. Then it freezes :/
Most of the times it happens while I'm changing song when still running.. But I try not to make it shake that much..
Could it be that it is overloaded?
And another question: Is it possible to update firmware without loosing all your songs?

how long do you run for before it freezes? Seems to me that you're running out of anti-skip protection, but that could just be me. If you update the firmware, it shouldn't cause any problems what-so-ever with regards to keeping your songs. Only when you restore the ipod will it erase your songs.

It's about 10-15 minutes. Today when I ran, I was thinking of not changing song, since I was afraid that it would freeze again. But I did, and it froze.
Any others experienced the same problem, or got any advice for what to do when running?

Coming from an obsessed jogger, I had problems with the freezing of my first iPod which eventually resulted in the carking of the hard drive. Only recently did I buy a shuffle and not only doesn't it freeze, it weighs next to nothing. So I just leave it in my pocket the whole time while running. Greatest creation EVER!

If I knew then what I know now about Shuffle - Of course!
But I tried something the other day, jogging with my iPod in my hand, so that it would not jump around in my pocket.. Problem solved.
But perhaps I'll consider a Shuffle when/if my iPod crashes for good..

when you skip to the next song, the iPod has to access the HD to refill its memory. when you are jogging and the iPod is trying to access the HD, this can cause skipping and damage to the HD. to avoid this, create playlists that you can listen to without having to skip songs. the iPod will then have to access the HD only when the songs loaded into memory have all been played (usually around 20 minutes depending on file sizes).
