How to know a mini iPod generation?

Hi everyone, I'm new here.

I live in Mexico city and I want to buy a mini iPod. I've done some research and I've found that new mini iPods are 2nd generation, which basically means their batteries last a whole lot more than 1st gens, supposedly 18 hrs (that's right, aint it?)

Well, my question is that since I live in Mexico, sometimes we get these gadgets very very late after they're released in the States, so I'm afraid I may go to buy a new mini iPod an get an old 1st gen model that has been kept laying around in the store for months. So, how can I know (from the box) that the mini iPod I'm buying is actually 2nd generation?

Thanks in advance for your help. Bye!

Ray :)

PS. Is it possible to download extra games for the iPod?

2nd Gens will have their capacity (4 or 6 GB) inscribed on the back. The writing on the wheel will also be in the colour of the iPod (as opposed to 1st gens where the writing was white, regardless of the colour of the Mini)

.You can also tell by what comes with it. 1st gens come with a wall charger. The 2nd gens do not.

Thanks for your answers guys.

I Bought yesterday my new iPod mini 6 gb (they had no more 4 gbs) and I love it. It's green, my favorite color  . It's fantastic. And yes, it is 2nd gen. However, I do believe it is a major screw that the only way to charge it is through the computer, well, you can buy the OPTIONAL wall charger (you gotta be kiddin me, I don't like this tendency in Apple towards adding everything as an OPTIONAL accessory).

I have no idea how often will I be needing to charge my iPod. It has a lot of juice left still from the first charge. We'll see.

I'm looking forward to buying a mini iTrip to go with it and use it in the car. Any of you have any comments on this accessory? Is it worth buying? I would really like to hear from you on this.

Thanks again and happy ipoding to all :D

Yeah I didnt like the fact that they made the wall charger optional either. I mean what about the folks who arent fortunate enough to have a laptop? If they dont purchase that "optional" charger then they are SOL when they take a trip.

well yea it does suck without the wall charger but you can buy generic wall chargers for ipod minis that cost less than 10bucks. its great unless you gotta have apple

I'm also interested in this generic wall charger thing. I definitely don't want to buy the expensive thing from Apple. What generic chargers do you know? Do you recommend any?

Dont support Apple's mean plan to make life optional!!!!:p
