Does the Mini autofill?
I have a 40 Gig 4th generation ipod that is being replaced by apple because it broke yet again. I am thinking of selling it on ebay as new (since it will be, still in the wrapper) and not losing THAT much money on it and then getting an ipod mini next october. I have 20 gigs of music, but most of it I skip through on the 40Gig anyway, so I don't mind downsizing in space on the ipod. A few questions, though:
1) Does the iPod mini autofill like the ipod shuffle? I really like this feature, and would definately prefer it to having to make my own smart playlists and only synch those ones.
2) Does the casing of the mini scratch as easily as the 40gig? This is one of the main reasons I'd be changing: I'm tired of having to put my sexy ipod in a case so it won't get scratched
3) When would the next ipod mini be coming out and what new features do you think would be included (as well as any price drops).
Thanks!

# 1 Re: Does the Mini autofill?
1) If you mean by 'Autofill', that when you plug the iPod Mini into a computer, will it update automatically, then yeah, it will do that.
2) Well, it doesn't get scratched easily, but it can get dented. As long as you don't drop it you'll be fine :)
3) Well, the next iPod Mini MIGHT include a colour screen for photos, but that is uncertain. There are rumours that the hard drive could go up to 8GB. Price wise, no idea. It won't be out anytime soon though, because they JUST really brought out the second generation of iPod Mini's.

The mini does not have a user end managable autofill. It does have an option that it will automatically make a playlist to fit the iPod if iTunes is too big, but you have no control on how this list is generated. Most people use smartplaylists and "sync selected playlists only" to manage their minis.

It's less scratch prone, but will scratch.

Last change was in April... Hmm or was it march. I wouldn't expect any changes until six months after that release, but that is always a guess. There is a website somewher that has a listing of different apple products that tell you the last update and tell you if it is safe to buy or if you should wait. I can't remember where it is at the moment, though...
