Why do the new ipod minis not come with the wall chargers?

Well alot of people will always have their iPod connected to their computer when they are not using it, but some don't like myself.

Apple want to make money like any other business and therefore selling the adoptor seperatly will make them more money.

Even though the AC adaptor is not included, the mini is $50 cheaper. This gets more people to buy a mini.

its actually a good deal...think of it like this, the mini is 50 bucks cheaper from the first gen, so if you dont need the adapter you save 50 bucks. if you do need it you pay $30 (25 w/ education discount) so you still end up paying less from the first gen. and hey, the new minis have twice as much battery life, so thats a plus:)

While I agree with e39 about the lower price, it is still an issue.

For the two problems I've had with the ipod, apple support's answer was "plug it into the wall charger and reset it". Well that's fine for me 'cause my gf has a wall charger. But what will they tell people now?? "Go to the apple store, buy a wall charger, come home, plug it in and reset it" ?? That's not too reasonable.

Even if the USB wall charge does cost $50 anyway... at least here in Canada (eh).

Does the 2nd gen ipod mini take FOREVER to charge from usb or is it faster now?

Does the charge time differ when charging via usb on laptop vs on a desktop?

No, the time charge via USB and desktop does not differ because it's the same amount of power going into your USB port. (It draws current from your laptop/PC power supply but we can start a whole new chain just explaining that)

Charging via USB is always slower than charging via a wall charger no matter which Gen the ipod is from. It's a matter of how much power is going into the ipod and it's so much less than the wall charger.
