Upgrade Dilemma Question

I've looked forward to this day for a while -- I got an iPod from my wife for my birthday. However, she bought me a 2G (second generation) Windows 20GB iPod. And I'm not sure what I should do.

Should I sell it quick on eBay? That's where she got this one, still new and in the shrink wrap, tho I fear she got taken for a ride as she paid almost as much as the 3G 20GB is going for on Amazon. If I sell it, I would use the money to buy a 3G of the same size.

But is it worth it? I know the 3G is smaller, has shorter battery life, and different button layout and dock. Are those upsides worth the downside of shorter battery? Will the plethora of extras, such as all those items from Belkin, work with the 2G? Am I worrying about this for nothing? I admit, I'm a big fan of having the latest greatest, but not if it's not worth it.

Let me know... I will appreciate any input.

I love answering this one, but there -are- loads of threads on the topic already. You'll be better off finding one of those - Jackonicko (among others) has made some really good points regarding 2G vs. 3G.

Good luck,

S.

Sadly, the forum's search tool doesn't search on any words with less than four letters... meaning "2G vs 3G" is completely ignored. But I shall muttle through. I didn't want to watch Angel tonight, anyway.
