iPod wont connect

Hey,
I just recently purchased an iPod. I dont know what generation it is. It is for windows and has the old design with the touch wheel, but my wheel doesnt move. It makes clicking sounds though. Anyways, I tried hooking it up to my computer today and I noticed I couldnt because I need to get a fire wire card. Later on today I looked up theses fire wire cards and noticed I could get one for around 40 dollars. My question is how hard is it to install the fire wire card to my computer? I have a semi old compaq5000 series. Could someone who knows a lot about iPods for windows help me out. Is my computer too old to use the i Pod. I have windows me millenium editon on my computer also. If someone could help me out it would be great. Thanks alot.

Installing a firewire card in any Windows OS other than XP or 2000 (XP and 2000 have drivers built into the OS) is a matter of inserting the card in the PCI slot and running the software drivers. Just make sure to check the box to make sure that Windows ME drivers are in fact included on the disk.

BTW, it sounds to me like you have a 2G iPod since you didn't mention having 4 buttons above the solid state wheel.
