Hi doink!

1. You can transfer files unsing the included firewire cable. Or, you can order a special USB cable from Apple (~$20 US). Performance is about the same. Firewire cards are also very inexpensive and easy to install... Firewire also charges the iPod.

2. The iPod supports sorting on Artist, Album, Genre & Composer using the music TAGS. You can also create playlists with many other software. Not really "folders", but it is functional.

3. Yes, the iPod is seen by Windows as an external hard drive. You can drag and drop files to it.

4. iPod supports mp3 and aac. Maybe other, but I have not tried myself.

5. Charging from empty battery to FULL can take as long as 3 hours. Battery life is supposed to be 8 hours under ideal conditions, but most people are seeing about 6-7 hours under normal use.

Good luck!

Yes, Apple includes an AC adapter that accepts the firewire connector. If you are using the firewire card in your PC, power comes from this directly too... I only use the adapter when travelling away from my PC with firewire card...

I am only 1/2 full on my 20gb iPod (many claim to have filled a 40gb unit- wow!). I also do move large files to/from work on iPod as an external drive. Very nice bonus!

The next firmware might have another, but I seriously doubt that given their sub-innovative firmware releases.
