Why cant I upload files to my iPod?
Bought an iPod yesterday...I have one CD in there, but everytime I hook up my pod to the charging dock, it gives me the "Do Not Disconnect" thing forever...
After I do the "Eject the iPod" option, that's when the Do Not Disconnect message stops however I can't load songs then.
Confused...

Well, when it's connected to the computer, you can only upload, you can't listen. When you disconnect, you can only listen.
Is that a good enough explanation? Can't really explain it any better.

when you put your iPod in the dock while the dock is connected to your computer via firewire or USB 2.0 it "mounts" giving you the "do not disconnect" message and should appear as a drive on your desktop our under my computer. This is the time to put music from your hard drive onto your ipod through iTunes, musicmatch, ephpod, whatever you are using. When you eject your iPod you get the "Okay to Disconnect" message and your iPod is not longer "mounted," allowing you to remove it from the dock and you can no longer upload music to it, just like Timmy told you.
sorry if this sounds too remedial, hope you get it to work.

Basically what he's saying is Do Not Disconnect is a good thing. It means the iPod is ready for you to upload tunes.
Since you're new to all of this, try iTunes first. It's the most straightforward to use w/the iPod. And read the help manual in iTunes.
