On the go - Playlist, How?

According to my Ipod it says to highlight the song and hold center button to add to On The Go playlist. However when I do this it obviously starts playing the highlighted song. It doesn't allow me to make my playlist. How do you all work this?

You have to press the center button until the song blinks--press, hold it for a few seconds, after it blinks let go--it'll be on your OTG now. If you just press it, it'll play the song--but if you press and leave your finger on, you'll get it to the OTG.
