Useless "line out" in Windows iPod dock
I'm failing to see the usefullness of the "line out" port on the dock. While my Windows iPod is connected to the dock, none of the buttons work. You can't play songs, can't navigate the menu, it simply stays at either the "Do not disconnect" or "Safe to disconnect" screens. If you were to connect something to the "line out" port, you couldn't get your iPod to play tunes while connected to the dock/PC Firewire card. Am I misunderstanding the use of this port? If you disconnect the dock from the Firewire card, then sure, the port works and you can "use" your iPod while it is in the dock. However, if the dock is connected to the PC, the iPod becomes a paperweight while in the dock. You can't make it do a darn thing.

Hi Wraith,
The line out used to work just fine...until the v2.1 update.

While I respect the fact that the lineout has become useless while still connected to the computer it would still be usable if the ipod was in the dock and connected directly to the AC adapter or not at all. The the iPod would function as it should.
That being said you should be able to get this same effect in disconnected the iPod from the computer, yet keeping it plugged in. Make sure people are giving Apple ample feedback, respectfully, to return usability of the iPod in this way to the windows versions.
Cheers,
