Hello my friend dropped off his ipod because he has no computer . i downloaded all the neccessary software. and he bought a firewire-to-usb adapter. i plugged it into my usb. it doesnt show up as a drive. and when i press the circle on the ipod, i get a folder with an exclamation icon. if anyone can help , thanks in advance. I can give more details also.

What do you mean "firewire to usb adaptor"? Do you mean the Apple USB cable?Have you run the the updater? We need to know what model iPod you've got.

well my friend bought a IPOD dock connector. we were under the impression, that since i dont have a firewire on my system, that getting http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore?productLearnMore=M9126G/Awould solve the problem.

OK, yup, that's what you need. So, you connected the USB cable to the Ipod and your PC. But the iPod still doesn't show up? What shows up on the iPod when you connect it? Does it say "OK to Disconnect" or "Do Not Disconnect"?. You want it to say the latter.Also, what version of windows are your running?

im running xp pro. when i plug everything in ipod to usb to pc. nothings shows up. and when i touch the white round button it displays the apple logo then an icon with a folder and exclamation mark. i try to mess with ipod updater, and it says ipod not connected.thanks in advanced again.
