Please Apple, tell us why...
Why sell a product for PC when it doesn't work on PC. iPod was made for MAC first and its easy to see. Mine is not recognized by my computer. I just have problems with it. So please, Apple tell us why you sell a product made by Apple for MAC to PC users?

I think it's just you since it works for 99% of PC users except those who still use Windows 98 and below
# 3 Re: Please Apple, tell us why...
Or on the flipside:
Why do customers buy products without reading up on the specs and places such as this to pose questions before shelling out.
Fair enough if you have the correct OS to run the iPod, but as above 99.9% of users have no issues what so ever, in which case is down to your computer being faulty/incompatible. Clearly they cant account for every PC under the sun, their far less generic parts wise than Mac's.
Eitherway instead of ranting about your problem, maybe you should start asking us the right questions, like telling us your specific issues, rather than "it doesnt work fudge apple" Or better still speak to apple.
Sorry for the post but unconstructive threads like this just get my back up...:(

How can you make such a stupid comment when there are PC users ALL OVER this forum praising the iPod and it's functions. Mine worked right out of the box. Maybe your computer has been messed up by poor operation.

everybody get off his back please. if you don?t have anything useful to add, just don?t type! try to understand the frustration of having an ipod that doesn?t seem to be working.
kham, what exactly is the problem? you say it isn?t recognised by your pc. i assume you?re running win xp. what kind of firewire card do you have or are you using usb 2.0? has your ipod never worked, or is it just now not being recognised? do you have the mmjb plug-in installed (if yes, uninstall immediately). please be more specific, so we have better chances of helping you.

Sorry m.r.m, yes i can understand his obvious frustration, and no i dont understand the point of his post.
I mean i get an iPod it doesnt work, i come to thses forums and i describe the problem in depth hoping someone may have remedied a similar issue before, i then phone apple support.
I do not come to these forums and make a useless thread where by not only are you tying every PC Apple owner to the same brush, but your also criticising a product people are generally happy with, and too boot the post he made its absolutely impossible to expect someone to help you on the information your liberally provided.
Just a suggestion, again no flame intended.
But try a format like this:
Thread title: Help problem x
Body:
Hi all, nice forum you have here. I bought an ipod and it doesnt seem to be working, my pc doesnt recognise it. I have the following components and firwire card.
Appreciate the help, thanks.
Now someone will be a lot more willing to help his fellow podder when you reword it to something like that. Its not that were a bad bunch, but we just dont appreciate fundamentally useless threads.
Anyway, if you post the info we need ill help you the same as the next guy, but if you dont give us a chance then

Ok i'll be more specific. I'm using Windows XP, a cheap fire wire card and usb 2.0. Before my iPod was working like 1/2 times with MMJB. After like a month my pc just dont recognize my ipod anymore. I try every plug-in many times and it just dont work!.

@ ozzyo99, you?re right, but not everybody is internet forum experienced to know the proper "etiquette". the point i?m trying to make is, we don?t make anything better by flaming the user.
@ kham,
1. uninstall everyting that has to do with mmjb.
2. either get the usb 2.0 cable and use it or a firewire card with a via chipset. there?s a lot of useful info in our faqs. i suspect your problems are from using the cheap firewire card. ipods tend to be very picky about the compatibility with firewire cards. ones with via chipsets seem to work best (adaptec, orange micro, belkin...).

kham read our forum policy. we have rules against profanity on these boards. in the light of myself defending you, your behaviour is very poor. if you don?t comply with our forum guidelines (http://ipodlounge.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=7588) in future, you?ll be banned. this is a g-rated forum. your posts should take that under consideration!
you said that your ipod only worked half the time before. often the ipod has problems with firewire cards (without a via chipset). these problems often manifest in inconsistent recognition and/or corrupt transfer of files f.e.

# 11 Re: Please Apple, tell us why...
As m.r.m has pointed out (and you yourself have admitted) a poor firewire will often result in dropped connections, inability to connect or maintain a connection.
Now, either you can give up and sell your iPod, or work with us to get it resolved.
The first recommendation I would make is to get a good firewire card. As you'll see from these boards, Adaptec 4300 and OrangeMicro cards typically work the best. Then you'll never have a lost connection.
Also, MMJB is a poor excuse for software. Switch to iTunes. While it's not the best software in the world, it is for the iPod right now.

 what do you mean by transfer song to a directory? you can just drag the song out of itunes and place the song wherever you like. iTunes with iPod is far more user-friendly than Musicmatch
# 14 Re: Please Apple, tell us why...
Kham, why can you not use itunes. it is available for pc now aswell as mac, see http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ .
Good luck mate!
# 15 Re: Please Apple, tell us why...
Are you using a PCI firewire card and are you using an on-board
video card. There is a known IRQ conflict using any VIA chipset
firewire adapter and the NVidia on board video cards. This has
been a real problem for folks that have Creative firewire players also. Nvidia is aware of the problem, but I don't know if they have
offered a fix yet.

Quick reply:
There seem to be some issue with iPods losing connectivity after a while. I even made a clean Windows install AND traced down a Mac user to test it before shipping it back to Apple.
Another iddue is that the port on the Soundblasters is NOT FireWire. It is something Creative calls SB1394 and is not a fullblown FireWire port... Some get it to work with the iPod other don't.

1. SB1394 IS Firewire, it is just another less-common term for it.
2. VIA chipsets and the Audigy Firewire ports have problems working together, but there is a fix out there.
3. I have my iPod hooked up to the front connector on my Audigy 2 Platinum, works great, it is firewire.
4. I don't know this for sure, but I think the SB in "SB1394" stands for Sound Blaster, in which case it would be Sound Blaster 1394, and as we all know, IEEE1394 is Firewire.
