Can you charge your windows ipod while docked?
I'm still not clear reading the instructions if you are able to charge your windows ipod while docked? In other words, I have my dock connected by firewire to my computer, and the charging icon is flashing, but it doesn't appear to always charge my device. In the manual it says that MAC users charge while docked, but makes no reference to windows users. Do you really need to unplug the cords and plug into the wall to charge this unit?

if you are on a PC, probably. I don't know for sure, but I believe I remember reading that PC's don't send power through your firewire port, but MAC's do.
I usually charge mine on the dock, I just unplug the firewire and pop it into the brick in the wall.
I have noticed that when I run mine all the way down that I need to re-set it sometimes before it'll start charging. Just hold your middle and index fingers on the menu and play/pause buttons at the same time for a few seconds and then after it "resets" - it'll start to charge.

Yes it charges, if you use the 6pin firewire connection. I recently read on this forum somewhere that the 2.1 firmware F****Upp the batterysymbols status. So if the batterysymbol is acting weird. RESET. (i think it was reset:-)

your ipod get?s charged while docked to the pc (if connected to a 6-pin firewire port). it stops charging when it?s full. it doesn?t overcharge. pc laptops often don?t charge the ipod. if you connect the a/c adaptor via another firewire cable to another firewire port on the laptop while the ipod is connected, it get?s charged even on a pc laptop.

sazer01 I have the same problem since I updated to the new firmware. If I have like two bars left and drop it in the dock the battery indicator will show it as charging. When I come back 3 or four hours later and eject it will still only show two bars(same as when I put it in the dock). I put it back in the dock again and it will show a full charge next time I check it. Strange. I liked it when the big battery was showing on the screen, never had a problem with the older firmware....
