iPod not recognized
My iPod is not recognized on Windows ME. It is ,though, shown as a hard drive in My Computer. The iPod software does not recognize it at all. in the device manager, there is a question mark whick says "This Device is working properly. If some features of this device are not working, you may need to update the drivers for this device". I am using USB . A few days ago, i thought it would help if I formatted the iPod using Windows drive format (not the iPod restore) and now my iPod will not even turn on. The iPod says "do not disconnect" when it is plugged into the computer. How can i get the iPod to connect w/ the computer?

I have the exact same problem.
I have been told, that even though the ipod manual claims otherwise, the i-pod is not compatible with Windows ME.
There is some software out there that may help, I am going to try it out this afternoon, when I get away from this stinking office.
The sw packages I am going to try are called X-play and ephpod, i'll let you know how I get on.
Cheers,
Richard.

I have just bought a firewire card for my computer running Windows ME. The iPod works fine running firewire with ME.

Hi Sean,
I downloaded X-Play and it works fine with Windows ME and USB 2.0, you can download a free trial copy - give it a go.
Cheers,
Richard.

You might want to look at the Software Compendium ( http://ipodlounge.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=2286) for a list of all your options. I personally recommend MC9 above any of them as it offers the most features...
