Help getting started

I have a 10 gig, yeah I know but its what i got. It has no dock connector, just the firewire on top. I have a Win 2000 PC but no fire wire card. what should I be getting to start this thing up.

You need to get a firewire or usb 2.0 card. The firewire card/connection will allow you to charge the iPod when it is connected. The USB 2.0 card will not charge the iPod you will have to charge it via the power adapter. So the advantage would be to get a firewire card since the iPod came with the cable. If you go the usb 2.0 route you will not only have to buy the card for the computer but also the cable which is 19.00 at the Apple store.

Best palce to get the firewire card and is there a best card?

the consensus seems to be that adaptec is the best one.

From his post, you cant conclude he even has a Gen3 iPod.

Just buy a cheap Belkin fw card. I have one, thing works awesome, no problems even on WinXP using Ephpod.
