New ipod with issues
no problem with that but i notice almost immediately that when held up at a certain angle i can see tiny scratches on the display that i did not make. rest assured the ipod was purchased from a totally reputable seller and appeared to be new in all respects except this. I called Apple who would neither confirm nor deny that these scratches could have occured in the packing. However, based on checking the serial # it was determined that the unit was so new it was nearly impossible for it to have been purchased, returned and re-sold. Additionally, the reseller assured me they would not re-sell items with factory shrink wrap removed but not defective.
So first question, anyone else have an ipod with scratches on the display and actually the back metal casing, right of the box. Also, anyone notice and "oil slick" type rainbow coloration in the display when it's held up to sunlight at a certain angle?
Second one has to do with USB:
I had major issues with getting it formatted and running but some was my fault. However, in the end the remaining issue seems to be that every time I connect it via the dock and I believe directly, i get an error message saying the USB device is not recognized and further investigation reveals the problem is related to a driver not being installed.
It does show up in control panel hard disk listing and in the ITunes source list. It gets ITunes up and running and downloading automatically and it then plays. Apple thought that the XP service patch might help. Haven't had a chance to check that out.
Final:
Ipod Manager doesn't seem to work. I can open it but it disappears very quickly. breifly putting the ipod with a red x logo in system tray but then that goes.
Apple feels Itunes is overriding Manager and that it isn't really a worry or a defect in that you can access all manager functions thru Itunes and/or the Ipod itself.
Sorry to be so long and rambling. Any ideas would be appreciated.
thanks!
:D
