Newbie

Soldier here....Just purchased an IPOD...wow. I have a 700 CD music collection that i want to put on computer and then in IPOD. I am heading to the "war" soon. I checked out musicmatch briefly last night. Where can I find basic info to this as fast as possible. I'm runnung Windows XP and must connect with USB cable. No firewire port on Dell.

Any info to make this as easy as possible would greatly be appreciated.

Lastly can music be sorted by albums or artists.

Thanks

Forget about MMJB. It's garbage. Use iTunes for Windows ( http://www.apple.com/iTunes/) from Apple.

It's free and designed for use w/the iPod.

I hope you mean USB 2.0, not USB 1.1.

Just get a firewire card. I've seen them as low as $9.

iTunes lets you browse, search, and create Smart Playlists for Genre, Artist, Album, and even Composer.

This is it simple....I have a huge CD collection. All I want to do is rip CDs into MP3 files and load them onto IPOD. I'm in a Time crunch..heading to "land far away" and I need my music. I did install fire wire card. Need quick basic help. MMJB or iTunes. I have both installed.

Lastly MP3 or AAC??

Thanks

iTunes is going to be the fastest program for you to rip/upload to the iPod with.

Also, you won't have to read any instructions.

You might want to look at the help file though...it covers everything.

if you have both itunes and mmjb installed you really have no choice but to use itunes since it disables mmjb's ability to see the ipod.

Thanks for all of the help. Now, I've learned how to put CD in iTunes and then to IPOD.
Question everytime I put IPOD into cradle and iTunes pops up. If I've only added one new CD, does it have to go through the entire library again.
Presently I have 200 songs in IPOD. If I add one CD with 10 songs does it have to go through 210 songs to say IPOPD uploaded.
Have I missed a shortcut?
