How do I know if I have firewire on my computer?

Not sure if I do or not, want to make sure before I go out and but a card.

look for a port that has the numbers "1394" next to it

The port is unique looking. It is roughly rectangular, but one of the short sides is squeezed in, like this:

Have you already got your iPod? If you have, flip open the cover on top of your iPod (the one on the left if the screen is pointing down).It will look like that either on the back of your computer, or if you have a newer computer it may be on the frount as well. If you havn't got your ipod yet you can always look at this link:

If you can plug in the cable that came with the iPod into a socket on your PC easily then you have FireWire...

If you have to use a hammer & pliers to do it, you don't! :D
