Playlist Problems

I'm using Itunes and i Really like it the only problem that I find is that some of my playlists aren't syncing right. The songs appear on iTunes but not on SOME of my playlists on my pod.
Next does anyone know what apple has done or is going to do about the gap story?

I don't touch the gap story with a ten foot pole, but that's me.

Playlist, now that I'll play.

How are you syncing? Just playlists or the entire library? How big of a library are you syncing and how big is your ipod? What kind of playlists are there? There is a situation where some smartplaylists based off of certain criteria don't work on the ipod because tags changed in itunes don't know they need to be updated on the ipod.

Explain a little bit more on what you are doing to sync your ipod? Are you doing manual updating? You'll need to do dragging and dropping from itunes to the pod.

Cheers,
Stu

Im syncing automatically from itunes( Library and playlists) my entire library is about 3 gig and i have a 15g 3gen ipod. Size I dont think is the problem. I The playlists that wont sync have the following criteria.

Playlist 1. Rating = 5Star & last played in the last three days. Limited to 25 songs.

Playlist 2. Added in the last 1 Day no limit

Playlist 3. Added in the last 1 week no limit.

Hope this information helps you help me.

Thanks

Yes I think I can help you. At least for playlist 1 and 2 I think.

I think you are running into descrepencies in date added between itunes and the iPod. The iPod can be dynamic in it's updating of smart playlists and when you sync the iPod the date added that the smartplaylist using on the iPod is the date that the song was added to the iPod, not the date it was added to iTunes. This might explain the discrepency in these playlists, and I have no way to fix it.

Now for the first one, I'm not sure why this one isn't working for you. Could you perhaps explain some general comments on the discrepency. Ratings and last played should sync both ways and these playlists should sync perfectly. Can you explain how the playlist is different on iTunes compared to iTunes.

Sorry I can't explain playlist 1. But I think you are running into the date added problem on 2 and 3. How are these ones differnet. How soon do you sync your ipod after you add songs to itunes? Because if you do add them on the same day this is strange that this isn't working. Oh. Two points to check. Make sure that your date and time is set appropriately.

Good luck,
Stu

Yeah!

It hit me at the last minute after I thought of EVERYTHING else or so I thought. Well heck, it's got to use the calendar right? What if his isn't right?

Cool. Glad things are working now. You situation proves the dynamic playlists on the iPod. All you did was get the right date and there is the information fixed on the iPod after!
