Update 2.1 without Win2k?

I have a 3g 15 GB Ipod, i want to update it to 2.1, but i have windows 2000, is there anyway i can get it? if i update at a friend's house who have a WindowsXP, would i still be able to use it on my Window 2000 computer?

The update is for 2000 and XP. Says so right on the Download page.
