Thanks,

Noticable changes:

*Music Quiz is pretty cool, but you can't adjust the volume heh.
*Battery meter icon is now "solid" instead of "bricky" -- you'll know what I mean when ya see it.
*iPod Manager is not included! I just downloaded and installed the 2.1 setup.exe and no iPod Manager. That's lame, because I LIKED the iPod Manager (mount/dismount/mount/dismount... no unplugging required!)

Them's the only differences I notice.

Is 2.01 2.1? I'd think not, but...I really really want the media reader, but it says it doesn't work except on 2.1.

If 2.1 IS a new update, how on earth did you get? :)

contrast is better, music quiz is cool. Reports that sound quality is better but I havent listened to any mp3s on it yet. backlight timer fixxed up. annoying ok to disconnect screen. All in all pretty good :) seems like I picked the right time to get an ipod (I got mine a week ago :D)

Itunes is ok, but I prefer winamp and using ephpod for synching.

Yes I like the new battery gage, cool. The music quiz is a bit daft, but I do like the new backlight update.

Damien,
I don't think it's possible for the backlight color to change, since they are LED lights.

You can use the keys on remote control to increase / decrease the volume (if you own a remote control).

# 15 Re: Anyone update ipod software to 2.1?
I installed 2.1 yesterday but I've gone back to 2.0.1 (my iPod came with 2.0.2) as quite a few of my tracks would stop prematurely (always track 1 on an album) and would play anywhere between a few seconds and about about 30 seconds.

They play fine in itunes for windows, and play fine on the iPod now it's back to 2.0.1.

Maybe it was a corrupted filesystem.
Maybe it was because I'd ripped the tracks in dbpoweramp.
Maybe I'll try 2.1.1. ;-)

And this is a picture from the Apple Website, and also the picture from my iPod Box..

I doubt Apple would let a mistake like this slip...

As many people have said before, the backlights are different for every model. Mine is definately not that aqua colour, it's more grey-blue.

# 18 Re: Anyone update ipod software to 2.1?
The only thing I noticed that I don't like is that my battery meter starts out (when fully charged and unplugged from the dock) at the equivalent of like one bar and slowly moves up to where it is really at... near 3 3/4 bars or so (old brick system I mean). I really like the concept of the music quiz, but just like the other games, I probably won't use them much at all. I don't understand what the deal with the "improved backlight" is though. And mine's the same color, as I would expect it to be, because it's supposed to be an LED light. I think the best improvements are that the battery meter is more accurate now, although I'd prefer to have it start out saying that it was fully charged, and the dynamic on-the-go playlist, although I haven't tried to use it yet.

music quiz is alright, but its gona wear out that harddrive as quick as you can say give me the next firmware version! as for the LEDs...well, an LED is an LED no software will change the colour of one. depending on the light your in, the colour of the screen will appear to change, but most of them come shipped with whitey greyey, with a tint of bluey sortve colour...if that makes any sense!
