Best Music Library Conversion
Hey there Ipod friends
I want to put all of my cd's on my ipod so its all in one place, as backup (scratches) and portibility. I have an itrip on the way so my ipod will be fully used all the time.
What is the best organization method to rip and input to the ipod.
Right now all of my ids are kind of jacked so I get the same artist about 10 times that link to the same songs.
basically I want a very organized, quick way to fix my current tags and get my cd's in there as well.
Thanks for the help

If you use a program such as Eac using Lame and what ever to rip your cd's it automatically gets the song names and puts them in the right place for you.
But if your using downloaded songs then i reccomend using a program which can do batch tagging as re-ordering with the songs.
You could use mc9 to do this, although there probably is an easier way i havent been bothered to find out.

Check out the Software Compendium ( http://ipodlounge.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=2286) for a list of what's available in terms of organization etc.
If you're looking for everything to be organized etc, you'll probably want one of the all-in-one deals..

or maybe even MusicMatch i dunno why no one mentions musicmatch i like it and think its pretty good for my tagging needs.

Just wait until you have a group listed three or four times, then you'll realize how bad of a tagger Musicmatch is.

Last night I spent alot of time with this. I want good quality rips & an organized library. Here's my method:
* Rip CD's w/ EAC & encode w/ Lame (there's a link to another forum that has some really good info in it & explains how you should set up EAC. Sry I dont have it here at work...I'll try to find it when I get home & post back here...I found while searching this forum)
* Make tag changes with ID3TagIT
* Make gain changes with MP3Gain
* Upload to iPod with EphPod
* VolumeBoost to 40% via EsspeN's EuPod VolumeBoost program
Seems like alot of steps...but its really not that bad. EAC copys the tags pretty good..so there's not much you have to do w/ ID3TagIT...but if you have alot of MP3's you want to organize, TagIT does a pretty good job (+ all that software is free!) Right now Im Luuuuuuuuuuuvin my iPod & the sound quality is great after making the above changes. :)
