cant configure/update new ipod
Help - received new ipod last week, running Windows ME with firewire, installed software but when invited to configure ipod nothing happens, cancelled that process and carried on with software install. Tried to run update when first connected ipod but getting error message "Can't open ipod" Spent 4 hrs on the helpline, tried all their suggestions, received replacement today - and still getting the same message. Is it the ipod or the software or my operating system? Grateful for any thoughts.
Firewire card is running OK, ipod is recognised in the task bar/ipod manager.

Try uninstalling iPod Manager and the MMJB iPod Plugin. Then reboot. Then run the Updater from Start>Programs>iPod. Click on the Restore button

I'm up and running now - thanks for the advice. Another ipodder suggested I try to download the music and forgetting about the update step, I did and it worked, don't know why. Infuriating little gadget
