browsing mp3s by filename

most of my mp3s dont have the proper tags (i.e. genre, artist, etc etc), so it's very confusing when browsing under artist/album/genre/etc.

so is there any way to browse using FILENAME--
i organized it this way on my computer.....

?

did a search too, didnt know exactly what to use for the keyphrase...

thanks in advance

With a tool like mp3tag you can edit a lot of mp3's without a lot to do -> you can tell the program to extract the tag from the song's filenames... or just copy the whole filename to the 'song title'-tag...

got it, thanks!
downloaded ephpod as well as id3-tagit...

anyways,
is there any way to make it copy my exact mp3 folder?
which consists of FOLDERS (with artists names, has to have at least 2 mp3s of the ARTIST etc), but if i only have one song of a certain artist, then i dont even make a folder..

i.e., i want to make it look like this
Stone Temple Pilots (folder)
Nirvana (folder)
50-cent-intheclub.mp3

if so, which way do i browse it?

after making all the id3 tags the name of the file, using id3tagit, i browse by song..it's great!

There's no way to change the structure of browsing on the iPod. The iPod gets all of it's information from tags. That's it. So, you need to tag your songs properly for it to show up properly.

Winamp will not do the tags but a good work around is this get ephpod and use winamp to build playlists then upload them with ephpod. I have the same problem you do and that is what I use and so far it has worked but I do need to redo all my mp3 tags, might do that this weekend.

with mp3tag, you could perhaps do it like that:

1. Start mp3tag:D

2. Load the whole 'artist' folder into mp3tag (include subdirectories!) and change only artist to the Folder's name

2. Load new folder: each album by that artist, change album to the folder's name, take song's name from filename

3. Go on with next artist.

Remember to click on 'Save' button every time!!!
