syncing

i was wondering if you have to have all the songs you want on your ipod on your pc? say i have a 20 gig hd, but i have a 30 gig ipod, can i delete the songs off of my cpu and add only new ones to the ipod, while keeping the old songs on my ipod ?

Yes you can, but you wouldn't use sync. You'd just manually upload your songs.

I don't recommend this option because as a portable device the iPod just isn't stable to hold valuable data (e.g. your tunes). I can promise you, some time in its life it will need a full restore, requiring you to lose all the data on it. So keep backups somewhere.

New Hard Drives are really cheap these days. You can get a 120GB for < $100
