Win98 FireWire Patch -- complete crash

After installing the Win98 FireWire patch, my computer would freeze before entering Windows. I would get the "blue screen of death" and a specific type of error which I forgot to write down. The same thing happened in safe mode.

I did what is called a "dirty install." Reinstalled in Win98 over my current version of Win98. My computer is up and running. Has any of this happened to anyone before?

I've never heard of it before. Did you install the patch before installing the firewire card?

Yeah. I installed the patch and the computer automatically asked me if I wanted to restart. I said yes and my computer never started again. Not even in safe mode. Blue screen every time.

Very weird.

I've been unable to get my iPOD to work due to FireWire issues, so I tried to install the patch again and wrote down the error message that prevented me from starting my computer.

A fatal exception 0E has occured at 0167:BFF9E0FB. The current application will be terminated.

I have no idea.

Have you search MS's knowledge base for that? Perhaps that code could return some results.
