More iPod questions

I have some questions that I haven't seen addressed here. I am shopping for an mp3 player and I like what I've seen from the iPod. I use Windows XP. If I read correctly, iTunes is only available for Mac users. Can one download songs from the iTunes website using WIndows? Also, any other glitches or problems using Windows with iPod?

I notice that Apple site lists 10, 20 and 40 GB iPods. eBay has quite a few 30GB. Are these 30 GB an older series?

Any suggestions or recommendations would be most appreciated.

Thanks, Mark

hehe, you didn't look very hard now did you Mark. ;)

No problme, welcome to the 'lounge.

iTunes is not yet available for Windows. The guess is it will be out in Mid-October, but you never know with Apple. Once it's out, you'll be able to download music from the iTunes music store. Of course, it cost money ($0.99/song or something close).

You can still rip all of your CDs of course and upload them to the iPod.

Windows XP and the iPod work fine.

Apple just changed their lineup of iPods. Currently, they have the 10, 20 and 40 GB models. They used to have 10, 15 and 30. Basically they increased the drive size (that's the only change) and kept the price the same.

Hope that clears things up for you.

And just to elaborate on what Adam said, the 30 gb are "old" by a few months - they came out in late April 2003 so if you do decide to get one it is practically a "new" product.

Thanks for the info. Now that I have figured out a little more about these forums - I guess I could have answered my own questions! Take care!
