who would want a music forum? (please vote!)
Ok now that I've got my website up and running, I have a TON of extra bandwidth. I really have wanted to be on a music forum where people discuss various kinds of music. Now I was thinking that I could make a php forum (like this) that is strictly for music.
Before I get started with that, I was wondering who would actually want to visit a site like that? PLEASE vote!! If I get 50 or so votes, I might look into it. Your vote counts and you know that.

It would be interesting to see what different types of music everybody likes to listen to. However i could imagine that it could lead to alot of spamming along the lines of " ... RoX" and " ... Sux Big Time". Butif we're all mature about it could be really good.
I would also be interested to know how many otehr people have heard of small time artisits that not many people know about, my prime example being Carvin Jones (imagine cross between Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton with a few others thrown in for good measure).

Because there could be an entire forum dedicated to a variety of music. For instance, there could be 10 different genres that people could discuss. With only one forum here (Music Explorations) people are limited to their topics.

I would say use the Music Explorations forum here but it is not a very active forum at all.
Its to easy to get any forum to be very active but if you could pull off of specifically dedicated to Music I would certainly be happy to check it out.

I'm a bit dissapointed to see that this topic has been viewed 80 some-odd times and only 9 people have voted... Although it does count again when somebody looks at the topic again. But yeah..

i see no difference whatsoever with this "music" forum and "music exploration"...furthermore i see no "limitation" in the present forums...i dunno maybe you can clarify...

Just create an 'All about Jazz' thread in the Music Explorations forum. Or whatever genre/topic you want.
I think if it caught on a bit, then its worth making new forums.

The idea would be that it would be open to a wider group of people (ie people who don't own ipods or plan on getting one). I've never really run across a community of music fans that aren't all into one particular band or genre. Hopefully this might clear things up for you.

But if you wish to discuss Tibetan Nose Flute music you only have to start a thread. It was really only created to share your musical tastes, whatever they may be, with other members and not a genre centered message board like you are suggesting.

It may not have as many posts as some forums, but do remember a huge number of posts in some forums are duplicates, because some new members will not search before they post on a topic, to see if it has already been asked.
It is there to be used, so use it to "Recommend music to other iPodloungers"...

Yes, a music forum would be cool... but if your looking for more visitors, adding a gaming or Pembroke forum would increase your visitor count. Good luck w/ for site...
