When Im showing off my iPod to someone for the 1st time I always let them hear T

I just got my iPod yesterday and I'm really digging it. Which made me think of what to tell people when they start asking questions about it after they see it and want to hear it for themselves.

So here's something that should be fun to read the answers to:

Name the song you always let first-timers hear when you're showing off your 'pod--

I'd go first, but hey, I haven't played it for anyone yet! :p

"The Shining" by Badly Drawn Boy...has the coolest cello/french horn intro, followed by guitar then vocals, sort of haunting in a way. Then maybe Amanda Ghost's "Silver Lining" with simple piano and vocals and strings, and oh yeah, percussion. And then there's CSNY's "Find the Cost of Freedom", kick a** a capella harmony. But since I've only had my iPod a couple of weeks, I haven't let go of it much!

I ask them what they would like to hear and they're usually shocked that I have it. People don't realize how much music a HD player can hold.

Yah, the amount that it can hold is crazy. And the screen and the light up really suprises them. This one guy on my bus pulls out his cd player, and he's like , oh yah, well mine's got mp3 compatiablity too, like he thought he had me. And i was like, how about you give me everyone of your cds in that pouch, and i'll put them all on here and still have enough room for everything i could ever want to put on my 30gb ipod. I then asked him what cd's he had , and i already had half of them. some people just dont realize the greatness of the iPod

I show them how to browse by artist and let them find one they like.

It's interesting see what people pick to listen to, I have everything: Rap, Metal, Classic Rock, Blues, Electronic, etc.

I usually ask them if they want to pick a song. (Everyone is so amazed and they want to touch the iPod so I let them pick)

If they make me pick, lately it's No Doubt, Delta Goodrem, Holly Valance, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Sugababes, Kylie's new songs, ect. Pretty much whatever is on high rotation on my iPod.

I know my friends music tastes so I try and pick a song they would like, but I also try and pick a song that they don't know so I can expose them to something new. I like mostly UK artist, so nobody knows who they are, but I have got my friends interested in a few by picking some artists that have a sound they would like.

I let them mess and tinker with it so they can see how it works. If they ask for something to listen to I'll always reccomend Alice in Chains Unplugged. Has to be one of the best engineered live albums ever grea trange.

Yeah, people always want to mess around with one, but they are irresistable, as we ALL know!

At the minute, it's definitely Kylie and something from the new album. Red Blooded Woman is really different for her so they get to use something cool and listen to something very new at the same time.

To show off how clear yet friendly the iPod is, I can't recommend Harry Connick Jr's Wink & a Smile enough. It's guaranteed to make people warm to it straight away.

To show off bass, maybe Unfinished Sympathy by Massive Attack?

It's totally cool to be able to ask for a request and to have it right there! Just call me the DJ!

Ya - I usually let them play around with it. But on ocassions like when they start pushing the play button in as hard as they can, or when the poke the screen, I usually let them listen to like Tripping Billies or Crush by DMB.

I dont show mine off. I dont like other peoples grubby hands on it. Freaks me out. I try to avoid it being seen as much as possible.

I usually just let my friends pick whatever song they like.. or they just press play straight away.. and the first song in my library starts playing. Which is Peaches N Cream by 112 I think, lol.

When someone asks me if they can listen, I say, "Sure," and go into the Browse>Songs. Then I tell them to close their eyes and rotate the wheel at random and when they stop, whatever they stop on, they get to listen to. The main reason I do that is because then they don't take forever trying to find a song they might like, and because this way they can listen to something that might be a little bit out of their typical genre and might broaden their musical tastes slightly. Plus, most of the songs I have aren't well-known anyway, so they probably wouldn't be able to find something they like. Even the more well known artists I have like P!NK, I don't have any of her popular songs on there.

People usually think it is a stupid idea, and say they would never buy one.

However, I bring my iPod in and let them play around with it for a bit and they are hooked. Usually say something like "next student loan, I got to get myself one of those" :D.

Luckily I got mine before university back when I had money.

yeah, i've got this on my ipod too, great album. he's from manchester too!!. had to listen to it after i read the post. My track that i always let people check out is "across the universe" by the Beatles or "are you gonna be my girl" by Jet.

yeah, its good when people ask what it is im holding. i tell them it's an Ipod and then they ask "what music have you got on it?" and i tell them ive got about 800 albums stored on it, so i've got pretty much all varietys. The look on their faces is brilliant. I've even been taking requests at work from friends of what albums they want on it. So when they are on a break and im not, they can borrow my Ipod, browse the albums and find something they want to listen to.
One friend said hes going to buy an Ipod, until i explained that he'll need a pc too!! hahaha Maybe not then!!!
