Getting music from your CD to your Harddrive, is it possible?!

Ok, first off I'll just say if you like hard rock with some light mixed in here and there, go buy the new 40 Below Summer album dubbed The mourning After, and an older one I can't recall it atm but anyways, on to my question...

So anyways I have this CD and I can't get anything out of it in terms of songs on my hard drive, I'd really like to be able to listen to this CD on my IPOD, the cd has some sort of suncomm.com bmg protection, PLEASE IPOD GODS HELP ME!!!

thanks!!

Drag them to your desktop, or import them with iTunes as AAC ;)

Check to see if the fact that it is "copy-right" protected plainly on any packaging. If not I say return it for a refund. The record labels need to know that consumers aren't going to stand for under handed copy-protection.

Not sure if this is theh kind of copy protection that can be broken by drawing around the edge of the CD with permanent marker...

You can also get around copy protection on a Windows PC by holding down the Shift key when inserting the CD.

I'm not sure if you guys understand, but when I look at the cd in windows explorer i can't see any songs, and im not sure what to do but i really want to listen to this on my ipod... there is a feature on it that allows me to copy the songs to my harddrive in a WMA format, but it wont allow me to convert them to mp3 because of some sort of protection, and ipod doesnt support WMA =\

Buy a Mac. No, really, buy a Mac or get a friend with a Mac to rip the CD for you. The most recent iBooks seem to simply ignore copy protection systems - I've yet to find a CD I haven't been able to rip. There's a sticky about this...

It may work for you but not with me. I tried it on MusicMatch, Real One and also WMP all with no luck. ####!

Get a program called exact audio copy, its a great little ripper. http://www.exactaudiocopy.de/

As for copy protection, Apple would be breaking the law if they disabled it, if that is what your talking about. It generally depends on the software used and the CD-ROM, I know Liteon drives are great for copy protection ripping, I've had no problems recently. The only one that got me for a bit was 13th step, but it eventually worked.
