Sorry to post without direct experience, but I *sincerely* doubt it'd be worth it.
1) It records in 8khz mono.
2) The mic is best at <10 feet. Read the iPodlounge review.
3) Dynamic Range. The VOICE recorder's mic certainly is not optimized for 20-20000Hz ;)
4) Recording levels. For live recording, you're going to want adjustable levels. Belkin doesn't have it.

It sounds like crap if you play it back through the Belkin speaker.......put it into iTunes and it sounds good.

so it wouldn't be worth trying?
Any one did?

It's a ####e microphone and speaker anyway, Belkin well saw me coming when I bought it from them. And as if they even suggested that the speaker was so good I may even want to listen to music through it. Who were they kidding? Me obviously.

Now this is an old thread... ;)
The new iPods should be WONDERFUL for bootlegging shows, with their full-quality audio recording. All we need is new microphones designed to work with the dock port.
