Anybody received their iTrip 3G yet?
I ordered my iTrip in June, and still haven't reveived it yet. I've emailed Griffen several times, twice getting a little rude response. The last response I got was nice, but sounded a little automated, saying they SHOULD ship it within 7 days. But I also got another email saying that about a month ago, with no shipment yet.

I ordered mine at the end of June and received it 2 or 3 weeks ago. Would recommend calling them and asking where you are in the queue (be polite). When I did that they said almost at the top and not should have it in a few days. I received it 2 days later with a ship time on the receipt of 30 minutes after I called. This was my experience and hope yours is just as good.
# 2 Re: Anybody received their iTrip 3G yet?
I haven't actually received mine yet, but it is scheduled to be delivered today through UPS. Have a tracking number and everything.
I ordered mine July 10th and I didn't call or anything, just emailed them last Friday (Oct 31st) to double check that I haven't been overlooked. Like you, I received a generic email about the hoping to have it shipped within 7 days. The next day I received my shipping notice email and now it is on its way.
So I would recommend what kasendorf said. Give them a call to double check you weren't overlooked, be polite. Good luck!

Just got mine today, and it's wonderful! Playing across the bedroom, about 20-25 ft. into a mini Sony system. Must say I was a little concerned after reading about other's poor reception, etc., but I find it works rather well so far in my first test.
Install was very easy, and as soon as wife gets home, I'll try it with the car that we use for trips. My car has a mini-stereo input, so I use that there, but her car is the one we use for trips, and our CD player is a pain to get to, so we tend not to use that as much as we thought we would.
I prefer my iPod to anything anyway, so I'm excited about how well it should work in her car seeing that I'm getting such good reception in the bedroom.
Sure love my 15 Gig 3G iPod, only wish I had waited for the 40 Gig model now. I shoot photography for a profession, so I could use a 40 for digital file storage in the field. Oh, well, guess I'll have to upgrade yet again huh?
Nice site, and yes, this is my first post folks.:)
# 4 Re: Anybody received their iTrip 3G yet?
Correction; I just measured the distance with a tape, and it's only 12 ft.! Sorry 'bout that.
# 5 Re: Anybody received their iTrip 3G yet?
Just got done going for a ride in my car for some errands, and tried the iTrip on 87.9, and it's wonderful!! This thing works great, but I did notice that if I turn the volume up too high on the iPod, then I get over modulation in my radio; turned iPod to 50% volume, and turn up car's volume= very clear reception!
I'm a happy camper with this iTrip and my new Griffen recorder add-on too.
Nice job Griffen!
Hope you all get you back orders soon too!

yes...again
# 7 Re: Anybody received their iTrip 3G yet?
I ordered mine from Macmall on July 14th...I can't believe how much of a delay Griffin has had getting these things out. I thought I would have it im plenty of time to use it for my music classes when school started, only to find the date continually pushed back until the GREAT DATE OF OCTOBER 6TH!!! when they announced that they were NOW SHIPPING!!!...it's a full month later and they still have not even shipped ANY to Macmall and don't expect to for "another week." I don't want to cancel my order and end up back at the bottom of the list. I guess I'd better just realize that I won't be getting the stupid thing until Christmas...of course By "Christmas" I'm sure that means "Easter 2004" to griffin...and "2004" means the year 2058 to them as well...god they suck!!!
# 8 Re: Anybody received their iTrip 3G yet?
Got mine last night - will load the CD tonight...I read a post claiming if you call or email to inquire or complain (I inquired) you move to the top of the list - within 4 days I had mine..
# 9 Re: Anybody received their iTrip 3G yet?
I ordered mine direct from Apple, so maybe that's the difference? I wasn't even thinking about one back in July; got an email from Apple about this and the Belkin voice adaptor, and ordered both. Got the voice adaptor within a week, and the iTrip yesterday.
# 10 Re: Anybody received their iTrip 3G yet?
I ordered my iTrip about a week or so ago from the apple store. I hope I don't have to wait as long as everyone else did from July. I got the iPod mainly for use in the car so I'm hoping I'll get one soon. Any guess as to when it should show up?

Ordered mine from the Apple Store (US) on Oct. 21. It was delivered on Nov. 8.
# 12 Re: Anybody received their iTrip 3G yet?
got mine 2 days ago. works great but seems highly dependent on the fm aerial of what you are playing through. i have 2 amps/tuners, one works great but the other (surrounded by tv, video, dvd, cable box etc) doesnt work so well. pefect in the cars as well.

# 13 Re: Anybody received their iTrip 3G yet?
I placed my order on Oct. 29th, so hopefully that means (using the same delay as yours) I'll get mine 18 days later which would be the 16th of this month. That's just a week away. Can't wait.

# 14 Re: Anybody received their iTrip 3G yet?
Man, i've been waiting since the middle of August when I pre-ordered direct from Griffin. But i just called em up and asked about it (as mentioned in the various posts here) and he said they'd ship it out in the next couple business days. I cant wait.
I guess the squeaky wheel does get the grease...
# 15 Re: Anybody received their iTrip 3G yet?
I received my iTrip today after waiting a month. I called a few days ago and inquired about it. I think they're still backlogged and move you to the front of the queue if you call and are polite.
So far it's fantastic!
Initially I had some trouble getting the frequency to take until I realized that you really need to plug it in with the iPod off then turn the iPod on so that it senses the power up. I was in the car and due to my anxiousness wasn't thinking straight.
I also had my iPod hang. First it was unresponsive but clicked, then the clicking stopped. Not having access to the iPod documentation on how to ctrl-alt-del it (stupid Windows user here) I stuck it in the belt holster and drove on dissapointed. I checked a little while later and found it had powered off on its own. I powered it up, making sure the iTrip was plugged in first, and it's been working great since. I think the iPod hang came about because I was trying to get it to work without following the proper power up sequence.
I found that 87.9 works well for me in Chicago (I am in the suburbs and drive a BMW 740iL). I don't have MusicMatch installed so I didn't run the CD that came with it. Instead last night I downloaded the latest frequency files from Griffin's site, copied the U.S. frequency folder into my music folder, then added it through iTunes and plugged in the iPod. I knew the iTrip would arrive today as I had the UPS tracking number.
My car has a small shelf that sits below the radio which is a little rubbery. It's actually just below where the cup holder pops out but the iPod fits there nicely and doesn't slide around much. I moved the iPod to different areas of the front seat to see how the signal was affected but it remained strong.
The music sounded a little flat at first until I realized that so does the radio. I listen to CDs mostly so never bothered to set up an equalizer profile, which my car supports and can be loaded. So rather than adjust the iPod equalizer I just defined another equalizer profile for the car stereo system.
The iTrip looks great, the LED is red not blue per the documentation (red matches better with my dash lights which are orange), and it has little rubber pads at both ends which make it easier to grab. I like the attention to detail and wish Griffin Technology lots of sucess!!

# 16 Re: Anybody received their iTrip 3G yet?
I was wondering if the iTrip works with the eXo iSkin still on the iPod.
# 17 Re: Anybody received their iTrip 3G yet?
I held off on emailing Griffin, since the first batch seemed to be getting hit-or-miss reviews, anyway.
Tired of waiting for my August preorder, I emailed on Monday, got a response on Tuesday, and just got my notification that it was shipped on Wednesday.
If anybody is still waiting, a polite call or email should do the trick.

# 18 Re: Anybody received their iTrip 3G yet?
I ordered my iTrip on 10/23 and received it today!
I copied the station files to the iPod, and tried it in the house, it worked pretty good I did get a little static. I decided to try it out in the car, where I will be using it most of the time.
It worked great, it actually exceeded my expectations, easy to use, sound quality was very good, better than I expected and it didn't break up at all driving around town and no static (I live in Northwest CT). I'll have to see how well it works while driving further distances, but so far I am very happy with it.
I also received my Jam Jacket for the iPod and the Jam Jacket doesn't obstruct the area where the iTrip plugs in at all.
# 19 Re: Anybody received their iTrip 3G yet?
I ordered mine when I bought my 3G 40GB iPOD - but missed the first order - and only received mine Fri week ago.
Being a bloke - didn't read the manual - I am a PC user with iTUNES - not MusicMatch...
read the manual - got there eventually.
Initial hiccups in the car - with static - have treid several freqs - and the latest one I am trying 100.1 seems to be better than the others I've tried (I'm in Canberra AUST for those interested).
So far worked brilliantly at home through stereo...
jury still out for the car... I drive a 2003 Alfa 147.

# 20 Re: Anybody received their iTrip 3G yet?
Got mine yesterday, preordered in September.
I love it at home with my stereo, works wonderfully. In the car...I'm having a hard time finding a frequency where I don't get static, so I may go back to using a tape converter there.

# 21 Re: Anybody received their iTrip 3G yet?
I just returned my iTrip 2. I couldn't get it to change frequencies at all (and I tried all the suggestions I found here as well as on Griffin's website). I did try it a bit on the default frequency and I wasn't too impressed with the sound quality. There wasn't much sound coming from the left channel. Also, every minute or so it'd transmit a loud scratchy sound. It kind of sounded like a needle scratching across an vinyl LP.
I am hoping it was just a defective unit and I'll try it again once they become more available. I returned it to the local Apple store where I bought it. I wanted to exchange it for a different one but they said they probably won't have any more for sale for a couple months.

Mine arrived two weeks ago, and it works great. I have had zero problems with it. Other then the funny light.

# 23 Re: Anybody received their iTrip 3G yet?
I ordered mine from the online apple store last monday. They said it wouldn't ship until 12/30. Thurdays I drive to an apple store that had it in stock. Of course on Friday when I went to cancel my order, they already shipped it. The itrip works great though. I live in the philly area so the stations are kinda full, surprisingly I too use 87.9. :)
